Existing Conditions Investigated
We survey, probe and scan before analyzing. Record drawings and assumed sizes are frequently wrong, and an analysis on wrong inputs is worthless.

To provide structural engineering that is correct, defensible and buildable, with assumptions stated plainly and existing conditions investigated rather than assumed.
Who We Are
Geoveta AB is a structural engineering consultancy serving architects, contractors, developers, building owners and homeowners. Our work covers structural design for new buildings in steel, concrete, timber and masonry; foundation design with interpretation of geotechnical reports; lateral load design for wind and seismic demand; alteration and renovation engineering including load-bearing element removal, openings and change of use loading; strengthening and retrofit design; temporary works, shoring and underpinning design; assessment of existing structures; and investigation of cracking, deflection and movement. We issue stamped calculations and drawings prepared to withstand third-party plan review.
Based in Sollentuna, Geoveta AB is particularly careful about existing buildings, because that is where the real risk sits. Record drawings frequently do not match what was built, previous alterations are often undocumented, and assumed member sizes and reinforcement can be wrong in either direction. We open up, survey, probe and test where necessary before analyzing, and we state our assumptions explicitly in every report. On the design side we pay attention to buildability: a connection that satisfies the calculation but cannot be erected, welded or bolted in position is a problem we created for the contractor, and we would rather resolve it on paper.

Our Mission
To provide structural engineering that is correct, defensible and buildable, with assumptions stated plainly and existing conditions investigated rather than assumed.
Track Record
Our Advantages
We survey, probe and scan before analyzing. Record drawings and assumed sizes are frequently wrong, and an analysis on wrong inputs is worthless.
Connections and sequences are designed to be erectable, welded and bolted in position. An adequate detail that cannot be built is not a solution.
Every report and calculation set states what was assumed and what was verified, so a reviewer or a future engineer knows where the limits are.
Investigation reports give a view on cause, significance and whether remedial work is actually needed, rather than hedging every conclusion.
Propping and shoring designs include the sequence of operations, because temporary works failures are among the most serious construction incidents.
Calculations and drawings are produced on the assumption a plan reviewer or checking engineer will read them critically.
Performance indicators come from our own service records, and we will show you the underlying data rather than a summary slide.
Every site has a supervisor who is accountable for it, reachable by name, and present when the work that matters is being done.
Programs run from a single site to portfolios of dozens without changing who you talk to or how performance is reported.
Compliance
Current certificates of insurance and credential documentation are provided with every proposal.
Sectors
Prevailing wage, certified payroll and local hiring reporting are handled in-house.
Client Feedback
They surveyed before quoting the beam and found a previous alteration nobody knew about sitting on the wall we wanted to remove. That discovery changed the whole design and avoided a serious problem.
Their connection details were designed to be erectable. We have had structurally sound drawings before that nobody could actually bolt up in position.
The crack investigation report gave a clear opinion on cause and significance rather than hedging. Our insurer accepted it without commissioning a second assessment.
Send Geoveta AB your drawings or photographs and we will advise what investigation is needed and what the engineering scope involves.

Existing structures require investigation before analysis. We open up, survey and test rather than assuming what record drawings claim is actually what was built.
Our Services

Design of strengthening solutions including steel plate and section additions, concrete jacketing, fiber reinforced polymer strengthening, additional framing and foundation enlargement, selected for constructability and access as much as for capacity.
Request a Quote
Assessment of existing buildings including survey of actual member sizes and configuration, reinforcement location by cover meter or scanning, material strength assessment where needed, capacity analysis against current and proposed loading, and reporting with assumptions and limitations stated.
Request a Quote
Investigation of cracking, deflection, settlement and movement in existing buildings, distinguishing structural from non-structural causes, monitoring where the mechanism is unclear, and reporting with a clear opinion on cause, significance and remedial requirement.
Request a Quote
Complete structural design in steel, reinforced concrete, timber and masonry, including gravity and lateral load systems, member sizing, connection design, floor and roof framing, and stamped calculations and drawings prepared for permit submission and third-party plan review.

Design of propping, needling, shoring, facade retention, excavation support and underpinning, including sequence of operations, because temporary works failures are among the most serious construction incidents and the sequence matters as much as the members.
Request a Quote
Engineering for removal of load-bearing walls, formation of new openings, floor penetrations, change of use loading and extensions, with clear answers on what can be removed, what must be supported, and the beam, column and foundation implications that follow.
Request a Quote
Wind and seismic design including load determination, lateral system selection and analysis, diaphragm and chord design, drift assessment, and detailing for ductility where the seismic design category requires it, documented for plan review.

We establish the scope, review available drawings, geotechnical data and loading requirements, and identify what must be investigated before analysis can proceed.
For existing structures we survey member sizes and configuration, scan for reinforcement, open up where necessary and test material strength where the analysis depends on it.
Loads are determined, analysis performed, members and connections designed, and buildability and access considered, with assumptions documented throughout.
Stamped calculations and drawings are issued, plan review comments addressed, and queries from the contractor answered during construction with site visits where needed.

Read MoreBecause temporary works failures cause some of the most serious construction incidents, and they often happen during the sequence rather than at the final condition. A propping design without a defined sequence of operations leaves the most dangerous decisions to the site.
Often not, but it has to be investigated rather than dismissed. Pattern, location, width, whether it is progressing and what has changed around the building all matter. Where the mechanism is unclear we monitor over time rather than offering an opinion we cannot support.
They are prepared on that assumption, with loads, assumptions, references and checks laid out for a reviewer to follow, and internally checked before issue. We also address plan review comments as part of the scope rather than treating them as additional work.
Often yes, with appropriate support, but the answer requires knowing what the wall carries and what is above it. We survey rather than assume, because previously undocumented alterations are common and frequently change the beam size and the foundation requirement considerably.
Send Geoveta AB your drawings or photographs and we will advise what investigation is needed and what the engineering scope involves.

A structurally adequate detail that cannot be erected safely is not a solution. We design connections and sequences that a contractor can actually build.
Projects & Case Studies

Progressive cracking in a commercial building was investigated, monitored over several months to establish whether movement was ongoing, and attributed to foundation settlement in a defined area with a clear remedial recommendation.

A residential alteration required removal of a load-bearing wall carrying floor and roof load. Survey found the wall also carried a previously undocumented alteration above, which changed the beam and foundation design substantially from the initial assumption.

An industrial structure converted to commercial occupancy required assessment against new imposed loading. Reinforcement scanning and material testing established actual capacity, and targeted strengthening proved sufficient without replacing the frame.

Retention of a street facade during demolition and reconstruction behind it, with propping and retention design including a defined sequence of operations and monitoring during the works.

Frequently, yes. Established techniques include steel additions, concrete jacketing, fiber reinforced polymer strengthening and added framing. The decision depends on actual capacity established by investigation, access for the works, and whether strengthening is genuinely cheaper once disruption is counted.
Because what was built frequently differs from what was drawn, and subsequent alterations are rarely documented. Member sizes, reinforcement and configuration all need verification. An analysis performed on wrong inputs produces a confident answer that is wrong.

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA as a target standard. Accessibility is treated as an ongoing obligation rather than a one-time project, and we review the site when we make significant changes to its structure or content.
Semantic HTML structure with a single main landmark, logical heading order and descriptive page titles, so screen reader users can navigate by structure.
A visible skip-to-content link, keyboard-operable navigation and menus, and focus styles that remain visible when navigating without a mouse.
Text and interface colors checked for contrast against their backgrounds, layouts that reflow at narrow widths and support browser text resizing without loss of content, and descriptive alternative text or accessible labels for images and icons that carry meaning.
Form fields with programmatically associated labels, required fields identified in text rather than by color alone, and link text that makes sense out of context.
Some decorative illustrations are presented without detailed descriptions because they convey no information beyond the surrounding text. Documents published in formats such as PDF may not meet the same standard as the website itself; we will provide an accessible alternative on request.
This website is designed to work with current versions of major browsers on desktop and mobile, used together with the assistive technologies available on those platforms. It may not perform as expected in browsers that are no longer supported by their vendor.

We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within five business days and will tell you what we intend to do and when. If an immediate fix is not possible, we will provide the information you needed by another means.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may escalate the matter to the body responsible for accessibility enforcement in your jurisdiction. This statement is reviewed periodically and whenever the website undergoes substantial change.

From Our Desk

Working where the public never leaves changes every method statement. Practical measures that protect people without stopping the job.

The most dangerous condition is often mid-operation, not final. Why a propping design needs a defined sequence.

A short list of questions that separates contractors who can document their work from contractors who can only describe it.

What was built rarely matches what was drawn, and alterations go undocumented. Why survey precedes analysis on existing buildings.
Send Geoveta AB your drawings or photographs and we will advise what investigation is needed and what the engineering scope involves.
